Take Time Tuesday {#7}

Take Time Tuesday, thanks Katie for hosting!

take-time-tuesday
Due to the recent events in Oklahoma, many emotions have flustered my mind and I have to say that I’m so thankful for the ability to communicate with family back home via technology.

familyILY

It is undoubtly very difficult being away from home, though it is part of the military lifestyle we’ve adapted to,  it’s extremely tough nonetheless. I personally find it especially difficult being away from loved ones during the holidays and even more so during times of tragedy and devastation. Moments of such as these make me want to run to those that I love and hug them endlessly. Tragedies remind me just how precious life is and how I must cherish and embrace every moment of it. Sadly, it is impossible to predict such events from occurring nor can I rush home every time they do occur, though I wish it were possible to do both. While nothing compares to the warmth of a hug/embrace from my family members, it is nice to connect with them through various modes of technology, via text, photo sharing and video chat.A and mommy

We typically video chat once a day, at least, with my parents. We chat so often that it has become part of our daily routine and A lights up when he hears the sound of a video call coming in. 🙂 I feel that this (amazing!!) technology has completely changed my little man’s relationship with his grandparents/aunts & uncles and I am ever so thankful for it, because it is such a joy to see him interact with them, whether he’s showing off, doing tricks and simply talking to them. While it might sound very shallow, (I swear it isn’t),  I honestly cannot fathom living without the wonderful technologies of today. Granted, I’m not saying it would be impossible, I’m just plainly acknowledging that A would have a completely different relationship with our families without video chats/skype; therefore I’m forever grateful for having access to these simple yet wonderful technologies that have enabled us to stay connected amongst the many miles of distance between us. ❤

Plus, I mean c’mon, who wouldn’t want to chat with this little ham?!

Love this! SO true:

Again, sending my thoughts & prayers to Oklahoma.

Thanks to Katie for another Take Time Tuesday! 🙂

take-time-tuesday

This week I’m thankful for my awesome, sweet, caring, and always inspiring and motivating hubby. ❤

Jage birthday

Not only is he a caring, loving and genuinely sweet person, he’s a fantastic daddy and super sweet husband! I especially adore the fact that he gets ME and all the things I’m completely and entirely passionate about. I especially love that he always motivates me and always allows me to take the time I need for myself.

20130430-222916.jpgLast night, I was exhausted and decided to skip out on my evening cardio. I had literally just decided to take it easy and slack off, even though I knew  I would feel better if I ran. I simply had no desire and no motivation whatsoever. Then my husband says, “hey babe, go for a run, I’ll keep an eye on A”  Instantly, those few words did it. It was nothing big, no glorious speech or motivational spiel, just a simple: “do what you gotta do for YOU” kind of thing.

I went from ZERO motivation to a TON with just that little boost and best part of all? I had an AWESOME  one of my BEST cardio workouts yet! Talk about a win-win in everybodys book! 🙂 And I would not have done it without *MY LOVE*.

So thank you babe, for always loving me despite all of my imperfections. Thanks for always acknowledging and accepting all of the quirky fitness and health related ideas, trends and foods that I’m ever so passionate about and for always inspiring me to BEST that I can be! ❤ Most importantly, thanks for being *YOU* and loving ME. ❤

Take Time Tuesday brought to us by the lovely Katie!!

This week I’m grateful for…

yummy eats

20130327-080924.jpgOvernight oats in jar with strawberries and bananas

20130327-080932.jpgchicken pita with carving board chicken, cheese, greens (spinach & romaine lettuce), hummus, greek yogurt & guacamole, green bell pepper.

20130327-080939.jpga cute Easter Bunny and an even more precious little man who was completely mesmerized by him.

20130327-081019.jpgA’s face lit up when he saw the Easter Bunny walk over to him and was completely overjoyed when he shook his hand and sat in his lap. ❤ The photos taken by the photographer captured him smiling  and I was absolutely esctatic. I didn’t think he would cry, but I had no idea he’d LOVE the Easter Bunny as much as he did; I seriously think he could have sat there for hours.

I’m also thankful for finding the perfect DIY project, one we’ve been eager to tackle.

20130327-081200.jpg{this is the before photo, can’t wait to complete it and show you what it looks like after}

Lastly, I am grateful for my hubby who is not only handsome and smart but also very skillful and handy. There is nothing more attractive than a guy who confidently tackles any project placed in front of him. ❤

Happy Tuesday friends!

What are you thankful for?

Take Time Tuesday

A sweet friend of mine, Katie who blogs at Life Half Full, decided to create a weekly link up for us to acknowledge all the wonderful things we are grateful for. It’s all about having an optimistic attitude, being thankful for one’s blessings and basically seeing the glass as half full! ❤

take-time-tuesday

So today, I’m taking the time to *SMELL THE ROSES* and think about a few things that I am super grateful for!

1. I’m THANKFUL that I completed the last of three mandatory state exams that I’m required to take in order to attain my teaching certificate!! 😀 I was on full study mode all weekend (well maybe not ALL weekend long, but a majority of it! 😉 and all day Monday as well. The anxiety of this last exam was driving me insane and even though I don’t know my final score yet, I’m just thankful that I did it. Now, all I need to do is relax and wait (anxiously) on the results.

study stuff{study stuff. let’s hope I don’t need to review these babies again soon! *fingers crossed*}

2. I’m grateful that my hubby was able to take time off from his busy schedule to watch the our little man while mommy took her big exam. I’m a SUPER NERVOUS test taker and adding the fact that I would have to be away from my little cutie for 3 hours + FREAKS ME OUT even more, so it really helped that my hubby totally understands this and arranged it so he was able to go with me to entertain our little man at stores nearby, while I took the exam, so that I could see them both immediately afterwards. 🙂 Seriously, what could be better after taking an extensive exam, that warps your brain til your practically brain-dead, than seeing your two favorite boys the second you walk out of the building?? ❤ I am blessed.

my boys{my boys! ❤ <3}

3. I’m also super thankful for the words of encouragement from my momma! ❤ There is nothing better than seeing that others are proud of you!

4. Lastly, to complete my day of joyfulness, I’m thankful for knowing a fantastic hairstylist. One who knows how to give you just the right hair fix when your at that point where you just want to chop it all off! 😉 I desperately needed a trim and have been meaning to get my hair done for the longest time but could never make time for myself, until today (also another thanks to my love). I called and was immediately seen which was awesome! I was in and out in a a quick minute and now my hair feels bouncy, more lively and super soft! *ahhh* pure joy!

hair things{happy hair=happy mommy!}

{p.s. I’m not big on selfies, clearly you can see I’m a shy gal! ;-)}

Oh & of course my stylist gave me a great product recommendation, without hassling me to get it (you know, kinda like a car salesman who insists you need it NOW!), which is always an extra plus in my book!

hair recommendations{So with that, I’ll willingly keeping my eye out for products of Mr. Paul Mitchell for my crazy curly, frizzy yet lusciously layered locks! 🙂 She said this is a great product for all hair types, especially those like me who want more moisture for their little frizzies!}

One last thing….I’m thankful for Elmo, particulary cute videos like these that my little man absolutely adores:

What have you been grateful/thankful for lately??

Hope your Tuesday was a great one! 🙂

❤ Alicia
