Lovely Holidays

Hey there! Hope you are all having a great Friday!! Can you believe 2012 is just around the corner? My how time has flown by!! 😀 I’ve totally continued to relax during these lovely holidays. We usually visit the family in Texas and are always  super busy spending time between each of our families. This is the first year where we’ve stayed home and relaxed throughout the holiday festivities. While we greatly LOVE our families, we are slowly adjusting to the new changes that our little family has began to pursue.

One thing that we’ve greatly enjoyed lately is spending time with *GREAT FRIENDS* 🙂 Being a military family is difficult and one of the hardest parts is getting to know other families. We’ve fortunately been blessed to have met a fabulous couple who very familiar with this lifestyle and are also pregnant with their first little one as well! 😀 This whole experience has been soooo much easier thanks to the fact that her and I can share our experiences throughout this wonderful journey. ❤

{I feel that this is SOO true and often think how amazing it is that God allows such friendship paths to cross. ❤ }

Last night we had a game night with them and ended up laughing and playing various board and card games until 3:00 in the morning!! 😀 Talk about CRAZYYY! Haha! We know we won’t be doing this much in the future so we’re taking advantage of a little silliness while we can! 😉 Gotta live it up!

What’s your favorite board game?

Mine is definitely a tie between Taboo & Apples to Apples.

After staying up WAY past our bedtime, we totally felt like zombies today and wanted to do a whole lot of this:

SLEEP!!  😀

Along with all of the RELAXING hubby and I have been doing, we’ve also been getting in some sweet workouts thanks to gift to ourselves: a TREADMILL!!!

The treadmill + my kindle = the PERFECT relaxation combo ❤

Along with getting my workout on, I’ve been reading a lot and I finished reading Little Earthquakes.

Loved it! Now I’m debating between Water for Elephants and Something Borrowed.

Got any great reading suggestions??

To accompany our great workouts, we been fueling up on some good eats and drinks. We’ve gotten to experiment more with our Vitamix and I made a fabulous GREEN SMOOTHIE! It was my first and I was pleasantly surprised by how DELICIOUS it was!!

{I LOVEEED the color!! and all the frothy bubbles!}

{This lovely Green smoothie had: Almond milk, a banana, a handful of Spinach, a spoonful of almond butter and 2 tbsp of chia seeds.} Surprisingly even hubby LOVED it! 😀 *insert happy dance here* 🙂 We will definitely be making more of these lovelies in the future. 😉

I love smoothies, but finding the perfect combo can be kinda tricky, so I’m always looking for  new smoothie recipes and blending tips.

Though I haven’t created a list of New Year’s resolutions yet, I do have some ideas in mind and I will most likely be creating an inspiration board (thanks to the Fitnessista) as a reminder and motivator throughout the new year.

What are some of your resolutions??

What plans do you have for New Year’s Eve?? We will likey be hanging out with those fab friends of ours that I mentioned earlier 🙂 Great Food + Fab Friends= LOTS of FUN!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas; ours was very sweet and we are totally looking forward to the arrival of our most favorite gift sometime around February (God willing)!! 😀

lazy holidays

I’ve totally been RELAXING and being LAZY since finish school this semester..but what can I say, with the hubby taking extra time off, what else can I do? 🙂 He’s been off this WHOLE week which has been pretty stinkin’ fabulous, so we’ve just been hanging out with great friends, shopping for little man<3, and spending time with our little furbabies. Though I wish we could be close to family during this holiday season, I’m pretty thankful with all the blessings we’ve been blessed with this year. I have YET to start my holiday baking…I said I was being “lazy” remember? Plus, I’ve already sent out holiday goodies to the fam, so these sweets will likely be just for our friends here and ourselves. YUM!

One tradition we’ve always done is create our Christmas photo card. I’ll have to find our previous cards to share with ya’ll, but I was so excited to make THIS year’s card especially since we aren’t going to be home for the holidays and I want to show off little man’s growing progress. We snapped so many pics, but these are my faves:

Mrs. Lex is sooo photogenic, she LOVES the camera, in fact she kept trying to get into EVERY photo we took.

Do you blame her though? She should totally be a puppy model. 😉

Luke on the other hand…not a fan of the camera at all. We always try to get a “family photo” with him in it and he never looks at the camera or even cares to be in the photo with us.

😛 Cats…gotta love em’.

One thing Miss Lexie has been doing more of is…

Relaxing on my belly! 🙂

I think she’s slowly starting to understand she’s going to be a big sister.

She’s also LOVING the fact that Dad is home during the day now. Daddy= the best belly rubber EVER.

{She usually doesn’t like to held like a baby unless it is on her Apparently she was feeling baby-ish this morning}

I cannot believe Christmas Eve is TOMORROW!!! 😀 CRAZYY!!

That means I’ll have to start my baking tonight and get my BAKE on!!

I’m planning on making these sweet goodies:

Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles from Skinnytaste

{The TREE ones, just because they are too cute! & Ready-bake cookies are soo EASY!}

Homemade Sugar Cookies for decorating!

Pretzel Turtles just because it’s my annual go-to sweet treat for the holidays! Can’t go wrong with this one my friends… so so sooo easy & SOO yummy!

I’ve never really had Ginger bread cookies…(Lame I know!) So I think I’ll stick with the basic sugar cookie this year. 😉

I know one thing I’ve fallen in love with is…

Peppermint Bark! 😀

It’s new to me this year, so I had to first try the Ghiradelli kind..and I must say..

It’s FABULOUS! I know there are TONS of recipes out there but I had to *try it first* to make sure I’d even like to make it myself.

Definitely a new holiday favorite of mine!

Well I’m off to do some more relaxing with the hubby<3! I’m so excited to watch Christmas movies and snack on some sweet goodies (& of course exercise somewhere in between 😉 hehe)

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL Christmas! ❤

Lots of Love<3

28 weeks!!

How I’m feeling: GREAT! My last appointment stated that all looks well, I’m gaining just the right amount and all is good with little man<3! I also took the glucose test at my last appointment last week, haven’t heard anything thus far so I’m hoping that no news=good news! 🙂

Exercise: Daily! ❤ I’ve noticed that doing some sort of daily cardio activity has IMMENSLEY helped my back ache, in fact since I started to do some type of daily exercise I’ve had ZERO lower back pain…(*fingers crossed* that it continues to be that way)

Food Cravings: SWEETS! The holidays have brought on my sweet tooth, I’ve been really wanting some PIE, (I didn’t get ANY during Thanksgiving….BOO!) and an assortment of holiday cookies. I baked a batch of cookies- they were healtified and yummy but there’s nothing like receiving holiday cookies from someone…(like the wonderful Connie) This time of year definitely makes me miss being home with the family to indulge in all of these wonderful goodies.

I did totally have a random craving for CEREAL…lol & I’m not a big cereal person…but I’m LOVING Raisin Bran.

Indulgences: None really, my taste buds are finally starting to be normal again though. Hubby & I did go to Cold Stone the other night for our favorite: Banana Caramel Crunch<3, but it was mostly *hubby* who was wanting it…lol Baby daddy gets cravings too ya know! 😉

Food faves: Eggs with spinach, peanut & almond butter, cottage cheese, bananas, tangerines and Raisin Bran cereal. A new to me product, which I HATED during the beginning of my pregnancy…Nutritional Yeast. Seriously, dunno what happened but I’m LOVING it now and find myself adding it to everything. Oh of course this girl is loving the SPICY things in life, HOT SAUCE is still my numero uno condiment of choice.

{Ever tried it? Is it a yay or nay?}

Baby Stuff bought: More clothes 😀 Daddy has actually been more excited because he’s fallen in love with the little Nike and Jordan booties. 🙂 It’s rather cute to say the least. & MORE BOOKS! 😀

{We LOVE books!}

{Our favorite: *Fox in sox* He kicks every time we read it!}

{More books from GG<3}

What I’m loving: ALL the kicks and movements. Little guy is ACTIVE, he wakes up around the same time every morning and gets his kick on. Sometimes I think he’s JUMPING because I feel kicks/punches on both sides of my tummy at the SAME time. 😛 It’s rather adorable.

I love that every night when we read, he’s always so active. He LOVES his story time that’s for sure.

I love the belly rubs I get from the hubby. I especially love that he talks to my belly more and enjoys reading to little man at night. ❤

I love seeing my belly grow, I find myself lifting up my shirt and just staring at it in disbelief sometimes. I really love seeing all the kicks and punches as well. 🙂

I can’t say it enough, all the movements, kicks and punches are the sweetest and most amazing feeling ever. Every little kick feels like the first and I can’t help but smile and love every second of it.

Special events:

Completing my 1st semester of Grad school! YAY!

Entering the *3rd Trimester!!*

Upcoming events: Belly photos 🙂 Can’t wait to take them!!

Baby Bootcamp! Can’t wait for Daddy to wear the pregnancy belly! hehe 😛 (Pics will be taken, no worries!)

{don’t mind the messy}

{I love my sweating for two tank!}

{can barely see my toes…& little miss Lex had to get in on the action as usual! 😉 hehe}

P.S. Techically, I’m *29 weeks* this week, but with finals and such last week I never got around to writing this.

much love,

What I’m really looking forward to is…

Finally going to put my kindle to some good use! 😀

I would love to be here relaxing with a book:

So I’ll just enjoy the lovely wintery weather with some hot cocoa! 😀

Study Study Study!

Hey there! hope your having a HAPPY FRIDAY! My this week seemed to just FLY BY! Not sure about you, but I’ve been SUPER BUSY all week with lots of this…

So with all the studying, I needed plenty of this..

Chai tea, TJ’s Candy Cane Green tea &&

Pumpkin spice coffee!!

{But I haven’t been over doing it in the caffeine department, I promise ;-)}

I will say it’s been kinda hard to stay completely on task thanks to a sweet furry baby of mine..

He  apparently thinks the MOST comfy place to take a nap is ON MY DESK, on my books nonetheless. 😛

{My little sleeping furball}

Lexie just sleeps my mommy’s feet, but sometimes she does try to get my attention by sitting in my lap.

“Homework is SOOO boring Mom! Want to go play fetch?”

They are such goofballs but I LOVE them to pieces! 🙂

This week I did try a new recipe and I must say it came out pretty darn tasty! 😀

*HAPPY DANCE* for new, yummy recipes!!

Meatball Spaghetti Soup (courtesy of Skinnytaste)

LOVED IT!! Hubby really liked it too, which is always a plus! 😉

I will definitely be making it again & again in the future!

This morning I had a scrumptious Breakfast Cookie (thanks to the Fitnessista)

{It’s not really a cookie, but it sure is DELISH!}

As you can see, I’m no chef/recipe wizard, I do however love trying new recipes.

The problem is that I never actually “measure” when I cook/add spices to my food, I just add some here and there.

I’m just a “go with it kinda cook” 🙂 My friend Amanda was alway the same way. I’d constantly ask her for the recipe to

something and she’d say, “I don’t have one, just threw a bunch of things together.”

Her food was pretty yummy, and so I totally get it now. 😉

Are you a measuring type or a “throw it all together” kinda person??

Anyways, back to more STUDYING! Ready to be DONE with these finals so I can do some of this..

RELAX!! 🙂 && this…

(both images found via…*Pinterest*)

Have a FABULOUS DAY ya’ll!
