Take Time Tuesday

A sweet friend of mine, Katie who blogs at Life Half Full, decided to create a weekly link up for us to acknowledge all the wonderful things we are grateful for. It’s all about having an optimistic attitude, being thankful for one’s blessings and basically seeing the glass as half full! ❀

So today, I’m taking the time to *SMELL THE ROSES* and think about a few things that I am super grateful for!

1. I’m THANKFUL that I completed the last of three mandatory state exams that I’m required to take in order to attain my teaching certificate!! πŸ˜€ I was on full study mode all weekend (well maybe not ALL weekend long, but a majority of it! πŸ˜‰ and all day Monday as well. The anxiety of this last exam was driving me insane and even though I don’t know my final score yet, I’m just thankful that I did it. Now, all I need to do is relax and wait (anxiously) on the results.

study stuff{study stuff. let’s hope I don’t need to review these babies again soon! *fingers crossed*}

2. I’m grateful that my hubby was able to take time off from his busy schedule to watch the our little man while mommy took her big exam. I’m a SUPER NERVOUS test taker and adding the fact that I would have to be away from my little cutie for 3 hours + FREAKS ME OUT even more, so it really helped that my hubby totally understands this and arranged it so he was able to go with me to entertain our little man at stores nearby, while I took the exam, so that I could see them both immediately afterwards. πŸ™‚ Seriously, what could be betterΒ after taking an extensive exam, that warps your brain til your practically brain-dead, than seeing your two favorite boys the second you walk out of the building?? ❀ I am blessed.Β

my boys{my boys! ❀ <3}

3. I’m also super thankful for the words of encouragement from my momma! ❀ There is nothing better than seeing that others are proud of you!

4. Lastly, to complete my day of joyfulness, I’m thankful for knowing a fantastic hairstylist. One who knows how to give you just the right hair fix when your at that point where you just want to chop it all off! πŸ˜‰ I desperately needed a trim and have been meaning to get my hair done for the longest time but could never make time for myself, until today (also another thanks to my love). I called and was immediately seen which was awesome! I was in and out in a a quick minute and now my hair feels bouncy, more lively and super soft! *ahhh* pure joy!

hair things{happy hair=happy mommy!}

{p.s. I’m not big on selfies, clearly you can see I’m a shy gal! ;-)}

Oh & of course my stylist gave me a great product recommendation, without hassling me to get it (you know, kinda like a car salesman who insists you need it NOW!), which is always an extra plus in my book!

hair recommendations{So with that, I’ll willinglyΒ keeping my eye out for products of Mr. Paul Mitchell for my crazy curly, frizzy yet lusciously layered locks! πŸ™‚ She said this is a great product for all hair types, especially those like me who want more moisture for their little frizzies!}

One last thing….I’m thankful for Elmo, particulary cute videos like these that my little man absolutely adores:

What have you been grateful/thankful for lately??

Hope your Tuesday was a great one! πŸ™‚

A double munchkin meal win kind of Monday

Happy Monday ya’ll! I swear the weekend comes and goes SO quickly and Monday creeps up on us all the time.

Although, the semester “technically” started on Saturday, I finally opened up my textbook and read through each of my syllabi today….and you know what…I’m pretty EXCITED!! While I must say I greatly enjoyed the winter break, I immediately started to feel bored…I kept thinking to myself “what should I do now?!” lol I guess I’m just a busy body, or better put…. a *busy-brain,* always needing something on my mind to keep me challenged and focused.

While the challenge this semester is definitely going to be juggling classes and keeping after little Mr., I’m still planning on being more accountable fitness wise as well. I need to get into a workout routine and stick to it. I’m trying, really trying to workout early in the morning as a jump-start to my day…but everytime my alarm goes off it is just SO much easier to hit the lovely snooze button over and over But, I know that by getting into a regular routine of working out in the morning will help allievate the anxiety I get towards the end of the day when I’m trying to cook dinner, Β chase a cute little 10 month old, and converse with the hubby. I hate looking at the clock and seeing it’s dinner time and I haven’t even workout yet…that totally kills my motivation and makes me a total grump.

So….any tips for getting into a daily EARLY morning workout regime??

Now to the good stuff…my Monday was pretty stinking Marvelous because…

1. I actually read my first chapter for this week’s assignment earlier rather than later…(waiting til the last minute totally stinks…and I’ve promised myself to be more accountable this semester and read ahead/as early as possible!)

2. I got to *sleep in* this morning, thanks to my super sweet hubby! ❀ YAY for 9 am wake ups during the week!

3. I experimented with two of A’s meals today and they were both a hit! I made him blueberry oatmeal pancakes for breakfast & a mango-banana yogurt & oats smoothie for dinner. πŸ˜€ It was my first time making him a smoothie and he wouldn’t put the cup down! *insert proud mommy happy dance here*

(REAL MEN use their g/f’s pink cup! πŸ™‚ lol)

4. I saw this awesome quote while browsing pinterest and HAD to share it!

live and learn

5. And last but not least….today is my brother’s *19th* birthday!! Happy Birthday Vince! ❀

vinny birthday

Hope you all have a *Marvelous Monday*!

Study Study Study!

Hey there! hope your having a HAPPY FRIDAY! My this week seemed to just FLY BY! Not sure about you, but I’ve been SUPER BUSY all week with lots of this…

So with all the studying, I needed plenty of this..

Chai tea, TJ’s Candy Cane Green tea &&

Pumpkin spice coffee!!

{But I haven’t been over doing it in the caffeine department, I promise ;-)}

I will say it’s been kinda hard to stay completely on task thanks to a sweet furry baby of mine..

He Β apparently thinks the MOST comfy place to take a nap is ON MY DESK, on my books nonetheless. πŸ˜›

{My little sleeping furball}

Lexie just sleeps my mommy’s feet, but sometimes she does try to get my attention by sitting in my lap.

“Homework is SOOO boring Mom! Want to go play fetch?”

They are such goofballs but I LOVE them to pieces! πŸ™‚

This week I did try a new recipe and I must say it came out pretty darn tasty! πŸ˜€

*HAPPY DANCE* for new, yummy recipes!!

Meatball Spaghetti Soup (courtesy of Skinnytaste)

LOVED IT!! Hubby really liked it too, which is always a plus! πŸ˜‰

I will definitely be making it again & again in the future!

This morning I had a scrumptious Breakfast Cookie (thanks to the Fitnessista)

{It’s not really a cookie, but it sure is DELISH!}

As you can see, I’m no chef/recipe wizard, I do however love trying new recipes.

The problem is that I never actually “measure” when I cook/add spices to my food, I just add some here and there.

I’m just a “go with it kinda cook” πŸ™‚ My friend Amanda was alway the same way. I’d constantly ask her for the recipe to

something and she’d say, “I don’t have one, just threw a bunch of things together.”

Her food was pretty yummy, and so I totally get it now. πŸ˜‰

Are you a measuring type or a “throw it all together” kinda person??

Anyways, back to more STUDYING! Ready to be DONE with these finals so I can do some of this..

RELAX!! πŸ™‚ && this…

Have a FABULOUS DAY ya’ll!

Just ROLL with it!

Hey there dolls! πŸ™‚ Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

First of all I apologize for slacking on this week’s postings. I feel awful, but I have a pretty good excuse for it, (or at least I think so and hope that you would too)

I apparently had total PREGNANCY BRAIN in which I got the due dates of two my classes confused. :-O I’m taking three graduate classes this semester and somehow I got the due dates of one of them mixed up with the due dates of another. I was somehow under the impression that two classes required assignments to be due every TWO weeks and the other EVERY week. So on Monday I was starting my day off like any other morning when for some reason I went to look at the course schedule only to see that my dates we ALL MESSED UP! I FREAKED OUT ( I know shouldn’t stress for baby’s sake but I was just couldn’t believe why the dates were all wrong, until it hit me that I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS WRONG) So I imediately called my professor, hoping that he’d answer his phone so that I didn’t have to explain things via email. {Side note: I’m ALL about technology like email and text, but sometimes you just HAVE TO talk to people in person or over the phone to efficiently get the message across} Thankfully he answered and I explained my misunderstanding of the due dates, how deeply sorry I was and I promised that I was not slacking, but I had just simply overlooked the deadlines of each assignment. I was literally 2 assignments BEHIND not to meantion that I had another assignment due this week as well. Oh and there were also those other two classess that I’m taking, those too! 😦 I couldn’t believe how I could have made such a major mistake like that and overlooked something so important. Thankfully, my professor said it wasn’t a problem that I just needed to complete all the assignments before I would be allowed to take the midterm. He also said that since they were “late,” he would have to take points off, but that he didn’t think it would effect my grade too much because I seemed to grasped the concepts of each previous assignment well. I was Β SOOO *thankful* for his sincerity and relieved that he understood the situation. I wanted to blame it on pregnancy hormones…lol but I didn’t think that was necessary, plus I’m not blaming baby for anything when I’m the one who clearly messed up. Afterwards, I sat at my desk looking over the material that I needed to cover and complete (3 projects total, which usually amounts to a week’s worth of work for each. 😦 *tear*) I began weeping like a baby….1. I couldn’t believe how I had let this happen. 2. I didn’t know how I was going to finish all of this work in just a few days. ( I did have two weeks until the midterm, but I couldn’t procrastinate any longer and was determined to finish all of it by this week’s deadline) 3. I was going to have points deducted from my grade….this one hurt me the MOST. I take so much pride in my assignments and the work I put into them and the thought of getting less than what I’m capable of it just awful. I had gotten 100% on each of the other two assignments that I had submitted, so I was pretty frustrated that the following assignments wouldn’t recieve such a high grade. :-/

So I pretty much spent my entire week playing CATCH UP! If there is anything I’ve learned from this fiasco it is this:

1. Things happen that totally rock your boat and you just gotta roll with punches and overcome it.

2. Mistakes happen and the point is to *live & learn* from them.

3. I’m a SOOO much more stronger, brighter, and more efficient than I ever though I could be.

4. With *DETERMINATION* anything is possible.

I think such events happen in our lives to teach us a lesson and to remind us how capable we are.

So intead of reading all the lovely blogs I love to follow and post about my weekly adventures, I was stuck being a total book worm all week. :-/ But I’m not complaining, I’ve caught up with all of my assignments and I feel GREAT! πŸ™‚

As a reward for all of my hard work, hubby took me to see The Help on Thursday. I finished reading it on Monday and I was very anxious to watch the movie finally. I was beyond pleased with the book and equally satisifed with movie. Hubby liked it too πŸ˜‰ which always makes he happy.

Another thing that I discovered makes me happy….

PICKLES!!!! πŸ˜€

There is a funny story behind it, but I’ll share it with ya later…maybe on the next baby post or something. πŸ˜‰ Needless to say, I definitely had a pickle run this week to satisfy my pregnancy cravings!!

Another thing that makes me *HAPPY* is….TEXAS<3!!

<img class=”aligncenter size-medium wp-image-201″ title=”texas

We will hopefully be visiting the *family* soon! I cannot wait πŸ˜€ I miss my parents, my siblings and my sweet sweet furbabies so so much! Everyday I tell hubby, “We’re one day closer to seeing Miss Lexie!” πŸ˜€ or “I can’t wait to cuddle with Mr. Grouchy Pants!” πŸ˜› He’s a cutie but his name could have easily been “Oscar.” But I still LOVE him to pieces. We’re going to bring home the little furry monsters, (YAY!!) and have our gender party to announce baby’s gender. (double YAY!!!) I’m sooo excited and CANNOT WAIT!

This weekend we’ve got lots going on with friends, today is the BIG GAME for TEXAS…they play top-ranked OU in the Red River Rivalry! We are pumped and super excited! I have a feeling Texas is gonna be the underdog who pulls out with a W this week. πŸ™‚ I swear baby is already throwing the *HOOK EM* sign up in my belly…Can’t wait to get him or her cute little Texas gear. πŸ˜€

Tomorrow we’re meeting our other friends (My *BESTIE*) and their precious little girl at the state fair! πŸ˜€ We’ve made it a tradition, the last time we went SHE was preggers and it was so adorable seeing her indulge all on the state fair goodies and NOW I’m the preggers girl! Since we don’t live as close as we used to, I greatly enjoy these get togethers to the fullest because she is truly a wonderful friend.

Do you like to go to state fairs?? I love all the craft booths and goodies that they make and sell. My friend loves ALL the crazy fried stuff they have. I dunno about fried oreos, but I’ll take a corn dog just because it’s the freakin’ STATE FAIR!! πŸ˜‰ hehe

(source) {Fried snickers or Corn dog?…take your pick. :-P}

Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!! (Sorry if I bored you with my lack of posting
