Happy Easter!

Happy Easter friends!!

A sweet Saturday

I started off my day with a nice cup of coffee with coconut milk creamer in my favorite mug.

20130330-224754.jpgBesides the oh-so-delicious coffee, what made my morning even SWEETER was this little bunny  playing happily in the cutest Scooby Doo Pjs…20130330-222703.jpg{Ahh! I adore him!}

After coffee, breakfast, and some playing it was nap time…

20130330-224131.jpg{such cuties!}

Of course Mommy didn’t nap, instead she painted her nails a new color inspired by the lovely Mila from Lofty Apetite.

20130330-222832.jpg{Essie Fiji which I LOVE and feel is the perfect Easter pink!}

Then we headed off to get some bunny’s FIRST hair cut…

20130330-230545.jpg{we had to distract him with several combs, but other than that he did very well!}

I thought I might cry seeing him getting all his little curls cut off, but thankfully I didn’t. In fact, I can’t get over his new trim, I really like it and feel like he looks like such a BIG BOY!

IMG_4282{I seriously adore him!}

After his big boy haircut, we went for a stroll…

20130330-224808.jpgWe just couldn’t resist the beautiful D.C. weather.

20130330-222758.jpgMr. Cool loved it so much he fell asleep and napped for almost 2 hours, which let me get in a nice, much needed run OUTSIDE as well. 😀

Afterwards, we headed to the store to get last minute Easter items, as well as some yummy Fro-yo!

20130330-222807.jpg{Banana & Island Coconut=SOOO GOOD!}

After some shopping and a nice dinner, we came home to play with GLOW-IN-THE-DARK EGGS! (Thanks to Aiden’s Momo for the awesome idea!)

20130330-222825.jpgWhile A & Mommy played, Daddy worked on the last minute touches to his project…

20130330-230648.jpgWe still have to decide what print to use for the seat cushions but we’re not in any rush yet. I think it came out perfect & cannot wait to start finding table decor ideas. Now that Lent is over, I’m on Instagram & Pinterest again and will definitely be pinning tons of table setting ideas!! 😀

Lastly, the sweetest thing about today, was that the beautiful weather reminded me of a beautiful soul who is no longer with us, but is our guardian angel in heaven above.

Happy Birthday Momo (my grandma), Love you always & forever.

Take Time Tuesday {#2}

Take Time Tuesday brought to us by the lovely Katie!!

This week I’m grateful for…

yummy eats

20130327-080924.jpgOvernight oats in jar with strawberries and bananas

20130327-080932.jpgchicken pita with carving board chicken, cheese, greens (spinach & romaine lettuce), hummus, greek yogurt & guacamole, green bell pepper.

20130327-080939.jpga cute Easter Bunny and an even more precious little man who was completely mesmerized by him.

20130327-081019.jpgA’s face lit up when he saw the Easter Bunny walk over to him and was completely overjoyed when he shook his hand and sat in his lap. ❤ The photos taken by the photographer captured him smiling  and I was absolutely esctatic. I didn’t think he would cry, but I had no idea he’d LOVE the Easter Bunny as much as he did; I seriously think he could have sat there for hours.

I’m also thankful for finding the perfect DIY project, one we’ve been eager to tackle.

20130327-081200.jpg{this is the before photo, can’t wait to complete it and show you what it looks like after}

Lastly, I am grateful for my hubby who is not only handsome and smart but also very skillful and handy. There is nothing more attractive than a guy who confidently tackles any project placed in front of him. ❤

Happy Tuesday friends!

What are you thankful for?

Plankin’ it

As a busy mommy, I can’ t always get a good 1.5-2 hour sweat session in, so I’m always looking for simple ways to get in a fast but tough workout throughout my day. Usually, I do a Blogilates video to tone my tush or do an intense arm or ab workout or a combo of a few videos when I get the chance. When I was on Pinterest, I was always pinning various online sources for quick and easy workouts to do around the house, like these:

However, I recently stumbled across the purely twins 5-minute plank workout and let me just say…WHOAAA!! it ROCKS!! I did it the other day with a handsome little toddler hanging all over me while I was plankin’ it (hey an added 20 pounds is tough!) and let me just say I was SUPER SORE the next morning! 5 minutes, that’s all you say but I swear this workout strengthens every part of your body! 5 mins and I works various places? YES PLEASE! 🙂

DO IT!!! 🙂 You’ll feel it tomorrow!

Here is a little motivation, since its motivational Monday & all! 😉

What are some of your favorite quick, easy, do-it-anywhere type workouts??

Mommyhood 101: Do not neglect yourself

March 1, 2012 was the sweetest, most life-changing, memorable, exhilarating and simply joyous day of my life. I never imagined that I could love someone so much and devote every second of every moment afterwards thinking of him continously. Motherhood clearly changes your way of life as well as your outlook on life in every single way. No book, manual, user’s guide can prepare you for the the highs and lows of parenting. (Even I though somedays I feel like still I desperately neeed one, so in case you know about something that I don’t-fill me in!) After devoting myself completely and whole heartedly to my son for a full year, always placing him as my number one throughout the day and putting myself on the back-burner in more ways than one…I’ve finally realized ONE thing that I wish I had realized months ago…I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF. His needs were my top priority, non-stop everyday, day and night for 365 days +. After a full year of mommyhood, I see that though I’m still learning, I’ve done a good job at being a mommy, but I’ve done a crummy job at taking care of ME.

I seriously looked in the mirror one morning and thought “YIKES!!” My makeup-less face felt dull and super dry; I felt flat out exhausted even after a good ole’ cup of joe, my head hurt and of course, I was grumpy because I knew I should have felt rejuvienated and joyful but I didn’t. That’s when I knew I needed something for ME. I needed to spruce things up so that I could feel better about myself, physically, mentally, and emotionally. (Thankfully, the hubby is always giving me compliments, even on days when I’m braless, in my Pjs with morning breathe at 2 pm in the afternoon (hey! it happens, don’t judge, you know have those days too!) The point is that I didn’t feel happy, therefore I wasn’t happy.

So what did I do? I went straight to Sephora and let the makeup connoisseurs fill me in on all the necessary makeup, moisturizers, cleansers and utensils that would suit MY needs. In that hour, I learned more about makeup products, brands, applicators and tips and tricks than I could have ever imagined. I left happily with a perfectly matched foundation color, an applicator brush and a sweet eye makeup palate, oh yeah AND a completely new perspective on taking time for myself as well as a new bright expression on my face because I looked an

What I learned was that sometimes, some brief moments of time when I’m not being Super Mommy, (keeping the house safe from monstrous diapers) I need to acknowledge  ME and do something for myself, for my mental, physical and emotional health.

love yourself

The dry skin, the never-ending headache, the grumpiness, bags under my eyes (oh yeah I for to mention that one earlier..) were all because I let myself get that way. My mental, emotional and physical self had all be neglected and it was evident.

What I’m saying is TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF! & I’m not just us mommies, you hard-working women, you college students, whomever you are, do something for YOU every once in a while. Get a mani/pedi, get those highlights you’ve been dying for, buy that dress you love, whatever it is…JUST DO IT! 🙂 You’ll thank me for telling you and then you’ll thank yourself later! 😉

take time

P.s. I’m such a makeup novice, NO JOKE, and now that I’ve been submersed into the wonderful world the amazing products at Sephora, I can’t get enough! lol Thankfully I’m conservative and my pocketbook isn’t crying! Well, not yet at least! ;-P JK

What ways do you like to self-indulge or just do something for yourself?

Take Time Tuesday

A sweet friend of mine, Katie who blogs at Life Half Full, decided to create a weekly link up for us to acknowledge all the wonderful things we are grateful for. It’s all about having an optimistic attitude, being thankful for one’s blessings and basically seeing the glass as half full! ❤

So today, I’m taking the time to *SMELL THE ROSES* and think about a few things that I am super grateful for!

1. I’m THANKFUL that I completed the last of three mandatory state exams that I’m required to take in order to attain my teaching certificate!! 😀 I was on full study mode all weekend (well maybe not ALL weekend long, but a majority of it! 😉 and all day Monday as well. The anxiety of this last exam was driving me insane and even though I don’t know my final score yet, I’m just thankful that I did it. Now, all I need to do is relax and wait (anxiously) on the results.

study stuff{study stuff. let’s hope I don’t need to review these babies again soon! *fingers crossed*}

2. I’m grateful that my hubby was able to take time off from his busy schedule to watch the our little man while mommy took her big exam. I’m a SUPER NERVOUS test taker and adding the fact that I would have to be away from my little cutie for 3 hours + FREAKS ME OUT even more, so it really helped that my hubby totally understands this and arranged it so he was able to go with me to entertain our little man at stores nearby, while I took the exam, so that I could see them both immediately afterwards. 🙂 Seriously, what could be better after taking an extensive exam, that warps your brain til your practically brain-dead, than seeing your two favorite boys the second you walk out of the building?? ❤ I am blessed.

my boys{my boys! ❤ <3}

3. I’m also super thankful for the words of encouragement from my momma! ❤ There is nothing better than seeing that others are proud of you!

4. Lastly, to complete my day of joyfulness, I’m thankful for knowing a fantastic hairstylist. One who knows how to give you just the right hair fix when your at that point where you just want to chop it all off! 😉 I desperately needed a trim and have been meaning to get my hair done for the longest time but could never make time for myself, until today (also another thanks to my love). I called and was immediately seen which was awesome! I was in and out in a a quick minute and now my hair feels bouncy, more lively and super soft! *ahhh* pure joy!

hair things{happy hair=happy mommy!}

{p.s. I’m not big on selfies, clearly you can see I’m a shy gal! ;-)}

Oh & of course my stylist gave me a great product recommendation, without hassling me to get it (you know, kinda like a car salesman who insists you need it NOW!), which is always an extra plus in my book!

hair recommendations{So with that, I’ll willingly keeping my eye out for products of Mr. Paul Mitchell for my crazy curly, frizzy yet lusciously layered locks! 🙂 She said this is a great product for all hair types, especially those like me who want more moisture for their little frizzies!}

One last thing….I’m thankful for Elmo, particulary cute videos like these that my little man absolutely adores:

What have you been grateful/thankful for lately??

Hope your Tuesday was a great one! 🙂

A’s Birthday Bash

Its so hard to believe but my little man is 1 already!! I remember the days when I would feel him kick me at all hours of the night while in my belly. ❤ It is hard to believe my wittle baby is less and less like a baby and slowly becoming a little man with each passing day!

For his *first* birthday we decided to stick with a basic theme, without any particular characters because he isn’t really into anything specific right now (except for maybe Elmo, which is just recently caught his eye). So with that we figured doing an *UNDER THE SEA* theme would be perfect!

ocean preppy

(Ocean Preppy Theme from Party City)

Besides the subtle use of anchors (which I adore), I just felt the color scheme was perfect for my little guy. I also loved the argyle and whale print patterns and felt they made the entire theme boyish and perfectly “preppy” as the title of it suggests! 🙂
