Sorry I’ve been away, I was really sick for almost 10 days with a nasty cold/flu-like-bug which included a severe week-long migrane. Then my little man came down with a stomach bug and the two of us just felt absolutely awful. *Thankfully*, we are feeling better and I’m actually feeling normal and less and less like a zombie! 🙂 I’m also back to working out regularly (YAY!) and cooking yummy meals (like the alfredo pasta seen below)!!

So, I had seen this survey going around a while back, and I figured I’d give it a go.

Friday FAVES

Good Morning Lovelies! Today started off with a scrumptious breakfast for me and the little.

While mommy was getting breakfast together, somebunny decided it was time for his mommy to clean out her bag…

gotta love the extra helping hand around the house! 😉

Breakfast was served & A LOVED his french toast. I of course HAD to add avocado to my breakfast sandwich..seriously, it makes everything better!

{a runny egg sandwhich with mild cheddar, ham and avocado on an english muffin with a wishful pup in the background, just praying that I’d drop the sandwich by accident. LOL}

I’ve been LOVIN’ some new-to-me products and other things lately so I thought I’d share them with ya!

1. Coconut milk

I  was kinda skeptical about it because I worried it would be “too coconutty” but its NOT and  it in fact is very smooth and creamy, similar to cow’s milk. I usually use almond milk but this has to be my NEW favorite cow’s milk alternative.

2. Sunrise Crunchy Vanilla Cereal

The hubby picked this out for me and it is THE BEST. I’m actually not a big cereal person at all, I really don’t like eating it for breakfast because I just feel there are so many other scrumptious breakfast options to choose from. BUT I do like cereal as late night snack sometimes and this has been my go-t0 snack of choice lately. SOOOOOO GOOD!

3. Pomegranate powder

Again, another new to me item the hubby picked up for me one day as my “surprise” from the store. I immediately add it to a smoothie and loved it! I actually use it in this smoothie the other day, but I think I forgot to mention it earlier.

{My new FAVORITE smoothie, made by MEEE 🙂 {YAY!} with both coconut milk and pomegrante powder along with other goodies.}

4. Stripes…I’m obsessed!

5. Early morning snuggles

20130517-130058.jpgHe has been teething lately which has had us on a roller coaster of emotions all week, but thankfully today he was super happy and extra snuggly. ❤

6. My handsome dancing King

20130517-131725.jpgHe has his mommy’s taste in music (seriously) and loves Prince Royce. Do you blame him? 😉

7. Favorite fitness app: Endomondo

Since the weather has been so nice I’ve been trying to get outside more often and go for jogs with my little man, but I alway wonder how far we’ve ran/walked until I found this app. It tracks distance and pace which is exactly what I was looking for.

8. This book:book

I started reading this on Tuesday for a book club I’m taking part in and I’m hooked! Its very witty, heartwarming and completely entertaining- I especially love all the sarcasm and humor.

{Synopsis: Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she’s a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she’s a disgrace; to design mavens, she’s a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette’s intensifying allergy to Seattle—and people in general—has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence—creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter’s role in an absurd world. Description from: Goodreads}

Five things FriDaY!

1. I’m absolutely in LOVE with ZEVIA drinks…I’m not a big soda person, bc of all the sugar/artificial sweetners they have but sometimes you just gotta have a nice fizzy drink…thus these babies do the trick. So far Ginger Root Beer is my FAVORITE! ❤

2. I’ve been secretly indulging in this current read… Yep, I finally decided to jump on the 50 Shades band wagon. I’m trying to just enjoy a fun novel for now since starting next week textbooks will be a major part of my reading agenda…

3. Speaking of school…I’m so excited yet so nervous about taking more Grad classes this semester especially with my sweet little munchkin. I’m just praying that I can balance being a mommy with all the homework/studying involved with school Wish me luck friends! *But I must admit I LOVE LOVE LOVE the start of a new school year…the school supplies section at Wally & Target always make me completely euphoric! 🙂  Yeah, I’m that girl! 😉

4. K.I.S.S. has become my newest mommy motto…I’ve really just been overthinking so many things and have been extra sensitive to “the rights and wrongs of parenting”…(remember that whole thing?) so I’ve just been reminding myself to just: *Keep It Simple Sista!* hehe 🙂

5. This little guy makes me swoon with delight. As tough as being a mommy can be sometimes, all I have to do is look at him and see his adorable smile and every single worry of mine go away in an instant. Love you lots baby cakes!

Happy FRIDAY friends…hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!! XOXO

an ode to writing..

(…and a toast to cute artistic journals of the past and the digital ones of the future!!)

What is it about writing that just soothes the mind? I’ve never been interested in really pursuing writing as a profession; my grammar has always pretty horrible to say the least. I did however always feel great relief when I had a journal to write whatever emotions and feelings I was going through that day. I think journals kept me sane sometimes when I was dealing teenage issues, heartache and all those other fun parts of growing up. As I got older, I sort of neglected this mode of expression because I simply didn’t have time to jot a note to myself or vent all of emotions on a piece of paper. For a while there I would vent by going to the gym or going for a jog, nothing was more peaceful and soothing to me than focusing my mind on something other than the current stressful situation. Many times I was using this technique as a distraction. I’d distract my mental wellbeing by challenging my physical body in an effort to avoid and forget about my stresses and worries. (Believe me I definitely had many times of sheer escape from the world by sweating my thoughts out, or so that’s what I thought was doing) While I do think it was a great escape tool for me to utilize at the time, I wonder what lessons I would have attained if I had simply written some of those thoughts down. I think there is something deeply enlightening about reflection. It gives us the ability to learn from these hectic little dwellings that encompass our soul. I think if we hold on to these stressful states of mind they continue to eat at us like plague. However, if we have a collection of these circumstances and are able to look back on them and rethink them through reflection, we can learn something that otherwise could never have be attained. When I look back on old writings or journals, I feel like I’m looking back into a time capsule because I am immediately flooded with the emotions and feelings I had at the time. With that I am able to appreciate everything I have been through, where I have come from and I am even more sure of where I want to be in the future. My reason for writing may not be super interesting or eye catching and that doesn’t matter, because the reason I write is for ME and that’s really all that truly matters.

So from the who girl who once carried around a pen and notepad everywhere she went, embrace your passions and WRITE! 🙂

(I love these two cute graphics and HAD to add them!)

So now that I begin pursuing writing again I wonder, what motivates you to write?

In what ways do you get those nagging thoughts out of your head when you need to just let it out and VENT?

with love,
