Words cannot express how thankful I am to have such enthusiastic and loving family members to share this special moment in our lives, we are truly blessed!

20 weeks!

Today we are *20 weeks*!!! 😀

I cannot believe we are already HALF WAY there! We are constantly filled with joy and excitement with each passing week, but this one is definitely extremely exciting! I actually got a bit teary eyed the other day just thinking about how fast time goes by. I was very sappy the rest of the evening just thinking about it. Thankfully, hubby distracted me with a movie! 🙂 A good movie always does the trick!

How I’m feeling: Good! Not as many headaches that’s for sure. More tired than usual, if I don’t go to sleep early, I cannot wake up early at all, but if I’m in bed at a decent hour, I’m an early bird. Apparently I definitely need my full 8 hours.

Cravings: None in particular….I just notice that my taste buds are different. I think baby is definitely using daddy’s taste buds and choosing some daddy’s favorites over mommy’s. 😛 One randome food I REALLY enjoyed eating baked chicken wings that hubby cooked. They were super spicy and super delicous! I wasn’t eating as many meat products prior to the bun being in the oven, but NOW I want meat…chicken inparticularly.

Food that I REALLY want but can’t have: Runny eggs…lol no joke! Over easy, runny eggs with toast. Sadly, the thought of salmonella freaks me out too much for me to chance it. Deli meats….I miss regular cold sandwiches. & Sushi!!! 🙂 I told my mom the other day that I have decided that I’m going to eat runny eggs for breakfast, deli meat sandwiches for lunch and SUSHI for dinner for the first TWO weeks post baby. 😛 lol Right now they all sound fabulous, but I’m sure later my taste buds will change again. But this experience it totally worth it!!

Changes: -All of my bras are continuing to feel uncomfortable, but I have yet to buy any new ones. But I’m loving the fact that I’ve got *cleavage* without the use of a pushup bra! 😉 oh la la! hehe (TMI sorry, but it’s the truth!)

-Mood swings…from happy one minute to sad and sulky the next.

-Definite bump formation! 😀 I think I’m past the point of looking like I’m just rocking the muffin top…which really excites me!

-Strong nails still and thick hair! Woo hoooo!!!

-My pants no longer button up, so I’m using the belly band 100% now. Thank goodness for yoga pants! 😉 Every time I think of yoga pants I think of “stretchy pants,” which reminds me of….

{Sometimes when you pregnant, you wear “stretchy pants”…it’s for fun} 😛

{The first time I saw this movie, I didn’t think it was funny one bit, but the second time I rolled on the ground laughing…lol it’s that type of humor that takes a while to sink in for me…hubby on the other hand thought it was funniest movie ever from the minute it started! lol}

Baby items bought: A cute set of onesies! 😀 & a room decor wall art. 😀 {I’ll post pics later…}

Special events so far: The start of FOOTBALL season! Baby is already cheering for mommy’s favorite teams.

Upcoming events: The gender reveal party with the family<3!!!

We’ve totally been slacking on the baby purchases and such but we’ve decided to wait until we knew the baby’s sex before we really tackle the baby shopping list. (We’ve known for a couple of weeks..but we haven’t shared it with anyone but my parents!! 😀 Let me just say that keeping it a secret has been super tough!)

I’ve started to look at nursery ideas but none have really stuck out, we have an idea of what we would like to do, but we have yet to agree on any room themes.

Same goes for names….we have several name ideas but none that we both love. I have my favorites and he has his but neither of us can agree with the others.

Can you tell we are total opposites? 😛 But we make it work! 😉

I’ll post pics tomorrow!! 🙂 Hope you have a great night!

Just ROLL with it!

Hey there dolls! 🙂 Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

First of all I apologize for slacking on this week’s postings. I feel awful, but I have a pretty good excuse for it, (or at least I think so and hope that you would too)

I apparently had total PREGNANCY BRAIN in which I got the due dates of two my classes confused. :-O I’m taking three graduate classes this semester and somehow I got the due dates of one of them mixed up with the due dates of another. I was somehow under the impression that two classes required assignments to be due every TWO weeks and the other EVERY week. So on Monday I was starting my day off like any other morning when for some reason I went to look at the course schedule only to see that my dates we ALL MESSED UP! I FREAKED OUT ( I know shouldn’t stress for baby’s sake but I was just couldn’t believe why the dates were all wrong, until it hit me that I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS WRONG) So I imediately called my professor, hoping that he’d answer his phone so that I didn’t have to explain things via email. {Side note: I’m ALL about technology like email and text, but sometimes you just HAVE TO talk to people in person or over the phone to efficiently get the message across} Thankfully he answered and I explained my misunderstanding of the due dates, how deeply sorry I was and I promised that I was not slacking, but I had just simply overlooked the deadlines of each assignment. I was literally 2 assignments BEHIND not to meantion that I had another assignment due this week as well. Oh and there were also those other two classess that I’m taking, those too! 😦 I couldn’t believe how I could have made such a major mistake like that and overlooked something so important. Thankfully, my professor said it wasn’t a problem that I just needed to complete all the assignments before I would be allowed to take the midterm. He also said that since they were “late,” he would have to take points off, but that he didn’t think it would effect my grade too much because I seemed to grasped the concepts of each previous assignment well. I was  SOOO *thankful* for his sincerity and relieved that he understood the situation. I wanted to blame it on pregnancy hormones…lol but I didn’t think that was necessary, plus I’m not blaming baby for anything when I’m the one who clearly messed up. Afterwards, I sat at my desk looking over the material that I needed to cover and complete (3 projects total, which usually amounts to a week’s worth of work for each. 😦 *tear*) I began weeping like a baby….1. I couldn’t believe how I had let this happen. 2. I didn’t know how I was going to finish all of this work in just a few days. ( I did have two weeks until the midterm, but I couldn’t procrastinate any longer and was determined to finish all of it by this week’s deadline) 3. I was going to have points deducted from my grade….this one hurt me the MOST. I take so much pride in my assignments and the work I put into them and the thought of getting less than what I’m capable of it just awful. I had gotten 100% on each of the other two assignments that I had submitted, so I was pretty frustrated that the following assignments wouldn’t recieve such a high grade. :-/

So I pretty much spent my entire week playing CATCH UP! If there is anything I’ve learned from this fiasco it is this:

1. Things happen that totally rock your boat and you just gotta roll with punches and overcome it.

2. Mistakes happen and the point is to *live & learn* from them.

3. I’m a SOOO much more stronger, brighter, and more efficient than I ever though I could be.

4. With *DETERMINATION* anything is possible.

I think such events happen in our lives to teach us a lesson and to remind us how capable we are.

So intead of reading all the lovely blogs I love to follow and post about my weekly adventures, I was stuck being a total book worm all week. :-/ But I’m not complaining, I’ve caught up with all of my assignments and I feel GREAT! 🙂

As a reward for all of my hard work, hubby took me to see The Help on Thursday. I finished reading it on Monday and I was very anxious to watch the movie finally. I was beyond pleased with the book and equally satisifed with movie. Hubby liked it too 😉 which always makes he happy.

Another thing that I discovered makes me happy….

There is a funny story behind it, but I’ll share it with ya later…maybe on the next baby post or something. 😉 Needless to say, I definitely had a pickle run this week to satisfy my pregnancy cravings!!

Another thing that makes me *HAPPY* is….TEXAS<3!!

<img class=”aligncenter size-medium wp-image-201″ title=”texas

We will hopefully be visiting the *family* soon! I cannot wait 😀 I miss my parents, my siblings and my sweet sweet furbabies so so much! Everyday I tell hubby, “We’re one day closer to seeing Miss Lexie!” 😀 or “I can’t wait to cuddle with Mr. Grouchy Pants!” 😛 He’s a cutie but his name could have easily been “Oscar.” But I still LOVE him to pieces. We’re going to bring home the little furry monsters, (YAY!!) and have our gender party to announce baby’s gender. (double YAY!!!) I’m sooo excited and CANNOT WAIT!

This weekend we’ve got lots going on with friends, today is the BIG GAME for TEXAS…they play top-ranked OU in the Red River Rivalry! We are pumped and super excited! I have a feeling Texas is gonna be the underdog who pulls out with a W this week. 🙂 I swear baby is already throwing the *HOOK EM* sign up in my belly…Can’t wait to get him or her cute little Texas gear. 😀

Tomorrow we’re meeting our other friends (My *BESTIE*) and their precious little girl at the state fair! 😀 We’ve made it a tradition, the last time we went SHE was preggers and it was so adorable seeing her indulge all on the state fair goodies and NOW I’m the preggers girl! Since we don’t live as close as we used to, I greatly enjoy these get togethers to the fullest because she is truly a wonderful friend.

Do you like to go to state fairs?? I love all the craft booths and goodies that they make and sell. My friend loves ALL the crazy fried stuff they have. I dunno about fried oreos, but I’ll take a corn dog just because it’s the freakin’ STATE FAIR!! 😉 hehe

(source) {Fried snickers or Corn dog?…take your pick. :-P}

Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!! (Sorry if I bored you with my lack of posting

*soyyy good!*

Happy Saturday friends!

Today we woke up to weather in the mid 40’s here in the D.C. area, I must say it’s quite LOVELY!! 🙂 I personally LOVE this weather, hubby on the other hand is a Texas boy at heart and doesn’t enjoy the colder weather much at all. I can’t believe OCTOBER is here already!! Seems like just yesterday it was beginning to feel like summer was right around the corner and now HALLOWEEN is but a few weeks away. I love October because it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and it’s so nice to see all the NFL teams and players supporting the cause with there cute pink football gear. I can definitely respect a man wearing pink to support such a great cause! 😉

With the new month I’ve also decided that to make a few goals for October, just to keep me motivated! Goals include:

1. Incorporating YOGA into my workout routine

2. Stretching before and after working out (I’m lazy post workout and NEVER do this but I know of the many benefits of stretching)

3. Plan weekly meals and STICK to it. (I started off planning each week, then a slowly quit sticking to it after a couple of weeks…)

4. Create a more structured workout schedule (Lately, I’ve been going with the flow and I’d just think I’d benefit more from my workouts if they were more structured and focused)

5. Have another *GIRLS* day!!

6. Take tons of pics to create memories for us and baby, especially when we go home to visit the Fam<3!

7. Eat more VEGGIES, I’m pretty good at the fruit part, but I need to include a daily amount of veggies into my diet for me and baby!

That’s my OCTOBER goal list and I don’t think I’ll have a problem meeting them, some will be harder than others, like the Yoga one, bc I’m not a yoga expert, but it’ll definitely challenge me to be more creative with my workouts.

So Hubby and I have this little food tradition, it’s something we do every Saturday and we both look forward to it because we don’t get to eat breakfast together during the week. We have *BREAKFAST TACO SATURDAY’S* every Saturday! Lately it has consisted of potato and egg tacos. He could literally eat them EVERYDAY and never get tired of them. Me on the other hand….NOT so much…I love having a variety, especially when it comes to food! So inspired by our taco tradition, we came across a new to us product: Trader Joes Soy Chorizo.

(source) {Sorry I had to borrow this image bc I didn’t take a pic of it before hubby opened the pkg}

We’ve always eaten regular chorizo before, our families both ate it, so we grew up eating it on the regular. Since being in D.C., we’ve haven’t found the kind of chorizo we prefer, so our chorizo and egg taco days haven’t existed since moving to the new casa….that is until we found TJ’s soy chorizo!! At first, I wasn’t sure if it would meet the mark, not that I’m doubting TJ’s at all, I LOVE the place and their products, but once you’ve had “the real deal” other substitutes don’t always meet one’s expectation.

So this morning I was eager to try our this new product and I must say……..

IT WAS *OH SO YUMMY*!!!!! No joke, I think I like it BETTER than regular chorizo!!! 😀 And that makes me HAPPY!!!!

{My taco with yummy green salsa and louisiana hot sauce on the side! I love the adding an extra kick of spicy-ness to my food! ;-)}

{Hubby’s creation of both potato & egg and soy chorizo & egg}

The texture was the same, except it had NO GREASE (*happy dance*) which was pretty amazing if you’ve ever cooked with the real stuff. Surprisingly hubby loved it too-which is always good! So our taco Saturday will now include SOY CHORIZO TACOS!!! 😀

I must say, this is the start of a wonderful weekend in our house! 😉 We’re off to the gym, and then later we’ll be watching the *HORNS* play ball with from friends.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Got any new to you products that you’re loving??

What are some of your family food traditions??

❤ Alicia
