Marvelous Monday {# 7}

Hey there! I’ve got to be honest, lately I’ve wanted to blog but we’ve just been so busy enjoying summer, meeting new friends and hanging out with old ones that the time to sit down and write just hasn’t been there. As much as I wish I could be more regular about blogging, I’m ok with it Β just being a thing I can do for fun ,whenever I like. My only hope is that you’ll enjoy the snippets of random stuff I jot down here on the bloggy when I do make time for it! If not, I’m okay with that too. πŸ™‚ So cheers to fun randomness and oh yes, another Marvelous Monday!! ❀

This weekend was pretty low key with some cleaning and lots of family time. ❀ (Weekends like this are my favorite!!)

Marvelous to me is…being completely lazy and watchingΒ cheap movies from Redbox.

movies(Neither was what we expected but both were equally entertaining.)

Marvelous is…a sweaty, post-workout smile along with a cutie who napped in his room like a big boy!

Marvelous is…Enjoying some sweet Sunday snuggles with these too adorable guys!

Marvelous is…swooning over these juicy peaches from the Farmer’s Market.

Marvelous is…playing with this handsome guy, who lately has been making lots of smoothies and even makes the smoothie sound (=his interpretation sound of a blender).

Marvelous is…lounging poolside with a darling friend of mine. ❀

Oh yes, and Marvelous is…adding new lipstick to my ever-growing collection.

20130715-110135.jpg{I’m obsessed!!! Must have ALL THE COLORS! LOL}

Marvelous is…creating this tasty summer sandwich:

{smoked gouda, fresh sliced tomato sprinkled with a dash of salt & pepper, avocado and mayo…SOOO GOOD!!)

Marvelous is…receiving these beauties from a sweet gal pal:

20130715-110145.jpg{YAY for beautiful birthday flowers!}

Lastly, Marvelous is…

My birthday (today)!!!! πŸ˜€ And..

20130715-105200.jpgAll the sweet birthday messages/photo collages from family and friends! ❀ ❀

Although I’m a year older today, I’ve gotta say I feel no older than *23*!! That’s *my number*… I’ll forever be *TWENTY-THREE*!! πŸ˜‰

Hope your Monday is Marvelous too!

2012 Goal Review

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS! ❀ Here we are at the start of the New YEAR..YAY!! 2012 was not only the BEST year for me but also the FASTEST year ever to fly by. *Time FLYS when you’re having FUN!*

So even though I already posted my 2013Β New Year’s Resolutions, I figured I would go back and see how 2012 was Β for more inspiration in this upcoming year.

My goals for 2012 were:

*Love Family*-I believe I did a fairly good job expressing my love and admiration for my amazing and always loving and caring family, especially via social media, however I would like to write more notes, and send random cards and gifts of gratitude this year too just to show them how much they truly mean to me. ❀

love notes

*Relax*-Relax….pfffff! This was most definitely easier said than done….but atleast I TRIED. I think it’s hard to relax with a new baby along with the fact that I am a complete worry-wart. But that’s ok, I think relaxing will be much easier this time around for sure now that I’ve a taste of parenthood as well as the experience of balancing it out with grad school.

*Life-long friends*-This is one I am SOOO HAPPY about! I can honestly say that in 2012 I made some awesome, amazing, wonderfully sweet life-long friends that I truly count on through thick and thin! ❀ I just LOVE how neat is it that certain people cross our paths in life and leave a lasting impression on us forever. These people are truly such blessings, I would seriously not know what to do without them! ❀ ❀

Love you Jenny & Betty!!

*Shop smarter*– I think we totally rocked this one, we definitely got some great steals on baby items and learned how to not go over the top with baby purchases. I do still think we should focus on budgeting a bit more this year, which is why it’s part of my resolutions list of 2013.

*Enjoy/Embrace change*-This one I think I handled partially. I definitely learned to embrace the change from being a wife to a mommy…however I don’t think I’ve managed both equally. What I mean is, since the moment A was born I become completely immersed in being a mommy and have neglected being an awesome wifey as well. I think this year I need to also focus on making special date nights with the hubby too so that he doesn’t feel like I’ve abandoned him throughout this amazing yet exhausting and beautiful journey known as parenting.

*Live Fit*-I’m a health nut, while I’m not tracking calories on my calorie counter like I used to, I do believe I make good fit choices throughout the year. I do however feel I should continue this throughout the new year and expand my knowledge of what living fit for me is. There’s always room for improvement! πŸ˜‰

*Smile more*-Of course I smiled more this year….along with bunches of laughs, and some tears throughout this new adventure in mommyhood. πŸ™‚

*Be aΒ goodΒ mom*-Whenever I was pregnant, people would tell me “OMG! You are going to be a GREAT mom!!” and I would think to myself….”how do they know this?!” “do I look like a great mom? What if I MESS UP?!?” I constantly worried about not being *good enough* and worried if my maternal instincts would really magically appear….and I’m not saying I deserve the *MOM OF THE YEAR* award, but I do think I’ve done a fairly awesome job at becoming a mommy! Plus, its only the BEST feeling in the world loving on this little adorable man!

loving you

As far as my fitness goals:

*Eat more Veggies*-I ate a good amount of veggies but always feel there is no such thing as TOO MANY Veggies. So I’ll be definitely trying to incorporate more into my meals again this year.

*Focus on good food*-I would again classify this as eating clean or otherwise known as choosing healthy food options. Again, this is on my 2013 list of things to do. Yet again, there is always room for improvement!!

*Work it out*-I worked it out as often as possible……or so I believe. So maybe I could have done a few more miles here and there and taken a workout class more times that I did, BUT I struggled with the mommy-guilt of leaving my new sweet little blessing at home while I shaked my boo-tay. This year though, I plan on really getting into a workout routine since my little man is becoming more and more independent by the minute and I feel he and daddy are bonding more and more each day and can handle mommy doing her thang for 1 and half or so. πŸ™‚

*Run a 5k*-This one I failed at completely. :-/ but that’s ok…it was a worthy goal but I was just simply too busy with school and mommyhood to really get into running again.

*Drink more water*-Throughout the year I drank and drank and drank water like it was going outta style, especially since everyone told me is was GREAT for my milk supply! πŸ™‚ However lately, I’ve been slacking on the H2O and want to again focus on drinking plenty of it this year as well.

Looking back on my goals I have to say I’m pretty proud of all that I accomplished and feel that each year will bring on new challenges and hopefully new obstacles that I’ll proudly dominate! πŸ˜€ So CHEERS to 2013 my friends, lets make it the best one yet!! πŸ˜€

❀ Alicia

P.s. Don’t forget to get your READ ON and read to your sweet little ones!! I’ve already picked out a few awesome books for the upcoming weeks that I cannot wait to share with you! πŸ˜€ Can’t wait to hear what you’ve been reading to your babies as well! ❀

Marvelous Monday

Today is not only a *Marvelous Monday* because we had an awesome weekend, but most importantly because it is CHRISTmas Eve! ❀ So I decided to participate in my sweet friend Katie’s MIMM, {for the first time!!}

On Friday we hosted GAME NIGHT at our house and it was SUPER FUN! The babies got to play while us adults shared some great laughs while playing Pictionary. We also munched on some PIZZA….and someone else joined in on the fun as well…PIZZA

He totally LOVED it and kept grunting at us to give him more! πŸ™‚

Since we stayed up til 3:30 AM (WHAT!?!…I know!!) We ended up having a LAZY Saturday and took a marvelous 2 hour nap!

We also received our lovely Christmas photos on Saturday and I LOVE THEM ALL! I’m finding it very hard to choice which one(s) to use for our holiday card this year..(YES! I’m behind sending out my cards this year but I couldn’t help it. Better late then never?! ;-))

This weekend I also got in a nice 3 mile run!! A FULL NONSTOP 3 miler!! πŸ˜€ I was very proud of myself because I haven’t ran that far in a while, since way before baby. I’m thinking about adding this to my New Year’s resolution so that I can start running again on a more regular basis. (I would love to run a 5 & 10K this upcoming year!)

Sunday I baked more cowboy cookies! Including a new-to-me recipe of Mexican Wedding Cookies that are full of powdery goodness πŸ˜‰Β cookies M

This weekend I also finished another DIY wreath! πŸ˜€ I had initially make this one…

wreathI wanted to add a personal touch to one so I decided to make this one:

F wreath

Though it may not be perfect, and I haven’t finished decorating it, I really like it and think it came our pretty darn cute if I say so myself!

Today we are going to just enjoy this MARVELOUS day with our sweet friends and this adorable little Santa baby…santa baby

Hope your Christmas Eve is MARVELOUS friends!! ❀ Alicia

Lovely Holidays

Hey there! Hope you are all having a great Friday!! Can you believe 2012 is just around the corner? My how time has flown by!! πŸ˜€ I’ve totally continued to relax during these lovely holidays. We usually visit the family in Texas and are always Β super busy spending time between each of our families. This is the first year where we’ve stayed home and relaxed throughout the holiday festivities. While we greatly LOVE our families, we are slowly adjusting to the new changes that our little family has began to pursue.

One thing that we’ve greatly enjoyed lately is spending time with *GREAT FRIENDS* πŸ™‚ Being a military family is difficult and one of the hardest parts is getting to know other families. We’ve fortunately been blessed to have met a fabulous couple who very familiar with this lifestyle and are also pregnant with their first little one as well! πŸ˜€ This whole experience has been soooo much easier thanks to the fact that her and I can share our experiences throughout this wonderful journey. ❀

{I feel that this is SOO true and often think how amazing it is that God allows such friendship paths to cross. ❀ }

Last night we had a game night with them and ended up laughing and playing various board and card games until 3:00 in the morning!! πŸ˜€ Talk about CRAZYYY! Haha! We know we won’t be doing this much in the future so we’re taking advantage of a little silliness while we can! πŸ˜‰ Gotta live it up!

What’s your favorite board game?

Mine is definitely a tie between Taboo & Apples to Apples.

After staying up WAY past our bedtime, we totally felt like zombies today and wanted to do a whole lot of this:

SLEEP!! Β πŸ˜€

Along with all of the RELAXING hubby and I have been doing, we’ve also been getting in some sweet workouts thanks to gift to ourselves: a TREADMILL!!!

The treadmill + my kindle = the PERFECT relaxation combo ❀

Along with getting my workout on, I’ve been reading a lot and I finished reading Little Earthquakes.

Loved it! Now I’m debating between Water for Elephants and Something Borrowed.

Got any great reading suggestions??

To accompany our great workouts, we been fueling up on some good eats and drinks. We’ve gotten to experiment more with our Vitamix and I made a fabulous GREEN SMOOTHIE! It was my first and I was pleasantly surprised by how DELICIOUS it was!!

{I LOVEEED the color!! and all the frothy bubbles!}

{This lovely Green smoothie had: Almond milk, a banana, a handful of Spinach, a spoonful of almond butter and 2 tbsp of chia seeds.} Surprisingly even hubby LOVED it! πŸ˜€ *insert happy dance here* πŸ™‚ We will definitely be making more of these lovelies in the future. πŸ˜‰

I love smoothies, but finding the perfect combo can be kinda tricky, so I’m always looking for Β new smoothie recipes and blending tips.

Though I haven’t created a list of New Year’s resolutions yet, I do have some ideas in mind and I will most likely be creating an inspiration board (thanks to the Fitnessista) as a reminder and motivator throughout the new year.

What are some of your resolutions??

What plans do you have for New Year’s Eve?? We will likey be hanging out with those fab friends of ours that I mentioned earlier πŸ™‚ Great Food + Fab Friends= LOTS of FUN!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas; ours was very sweet and we are totally looking forward to the arrival of our most favorite giftΒ sometime around February (God willing)!! πŸ˜€

Hello December!

I’ve totally be MIA and I apologize! I told myself that with my blog I would STAY WITH IT and blog as often as possible, BUT…..I’m also in GRAD SCHOOL right now and it’s the last two weeks of this semester (YAYYY!) and I’m SUPER BUSY with the semester coming to an end. I have my last few assignments due this week and FINALS next week. So needless to say, I’ve been bombarded with school and homework and such, but I will hopefully be blogging more often in the near future! πŸ˜‰

Recap: Thanksgiving was very nice! We went to a friends house to celebrate and eat lots of yummy food! Then we did the Black Friday thing, but didn’t find much. One thing we DID get was…..THE CRIB!! πŸ˜€ Hubby actually surprised me and got it when he said he was “at Best Buy.” lol

{Baby Daddy hard at work! πŸ˜‰ ❀ it!}

{The finished product! <3}

{Belly shot! HAHA Hello there toes!}

I am *27 weeks* this week! πŸ˜€ Almost at the *3rd Trimester*!! Can’t wait to due an update on how things have been lately! Lots of growth and changes but still feeling good!

{Bump @ 26 almost 27 weeks!}

On a less happy note: I was devasted by the recent news that Exercise TV will discontinue their On Demand feature. 😦 This has become my go-to exercise resource and I’m SOOO bummed that I will no longer be able to do cardio kick boxing and the chiseled arms episode. BOOO!!! Guess I’ll need to find an alternative for workout ideas. Speaking of,…anyone got any at home exercise resources? I’m loving POP pilates, but I need some CARDIO inspiration as well.

We’ve also started to collect more and more baby items! YAY! I’m loving the fact that the hubster is getting more involved and in every store we go to he immediately goes to the BABY section! ❀ So sweet!

We’ve also started to get our Christmas decor out! πŸ™‚ We have yet to put up the tree because every time we plan on it, he ends up working super late. So hopefully tonight the TREE will be up! πŸ˜€ Can’t wait to take pics of it and share with ya’ll. Meanwhile, my little furry monster Lucas is LOVING all the decor items that are slowly appearing everywhere…he has always gotten a plastic ornament and rolled it around the entire house. Silly cat.

I’ve TOTALLY been in the mood to BAKE, so I think I’m going to make these yummy cookies tonight while we decorate the TREE! πŸ™‚ I only wish we had family close by so I could bake all the time and share all the sweet treats with them. Some day God willing I’ll be able to unleash my inner Betty Crocker! πŸ˜‰

Just ROLL with it!

Hey there dolls! πŸ™‚ Hope you’re having a great weekend!!

First of all I apologize for slacking on this week’s postings. I feel awful, but I have a pretty good excuse for it, (or at least I think so and hope that you would too)

I apparently had total PREGNANCY BRAIN in which I got the due dates of two my classes confused. :-O I’m taking three graduate classes this semester and somehow I got the due dates of one of them mixed up with the due dates of another. I was somehow under the impression that two classes required assignments to be due every TWO weeks and the other EVERY week. So on Monday I was starting my day off like any other morning when for some reason I went to look at the course schedule only to see that my dates we ALL MESSED UP! I FREAKED OUT ( I know shouldn’t stress for baby’s sake but I was just couldn’t believe why the dates were all wrong, until it hit me that I WAS THE ONE WHO WAS WRONG) So I imediately called my professor, hoping that he’d answer his phone so that I didn’t have to explain things via email. {Side note: I’m ALL about technology like email and text, but sometimes you just HAVE TO talk to people in person or over the phone to efficiently get the message across} Thankfully he answered and I explained my misunderstanding of the due dates, how deeply sorry I was and I promised that I was not slacking, but I had just simply overlooked the deadlines of each assignment. I was literally 2 assignments BEHIND not to meantion that I had another assignment due this week as well. Oh and there were also those other two classess that I’m taking, those too! 😦 I couldn’t believe how I could have made such a major mistake like that and overlooked something so important. Thankfully, my professor said it wasn’t a problem that I just needed to complete all the assignments before I would be allowed to take the midterm. He also said that since they were “late,” he would have to take points off, but that he didn’t think it would effect my grade too much because I seemed to grasped the concepts of each previous assignment well. I was Β SOOO *thankful* for his sincerity and relieved that he understood the situation. I wanted to blame it on pregnancy hormones…lol but I didn’t think that was necessary, plus I’m not blaming baby for anything when I’m the one who clearly messed up. Afterwards, I sat at my desk looking over the material that I needed to cover and complete (3 projects total, which usually amounts to a week’s worth of work for each. 😦 *tear*) I began weeping like a baby….1. I couldn’t believe how I had let this happen. 2. I didn’t know how I was going to finish all of this work in just a few days. ( I did have two weeks until the midterm, but I couldn’t procrastinate any longer and was determined to finish all of it by this week’s deadline) 3. I was going to have points deducted from my grade….this one hurt me the MOST. I take so much pride in my assignments and the work I put into them and the thought of getting less than what I’m capable of it just awful. I had gotten 100% on each of the other two assignments that I had submitted, so I was pretty frustrated that the following assignments wouldn’t recieve such a high grade. :-/

So I pretty much spent my entire week playing CATCH UP! If there is anything I’ve learned from this fiasco it is this:

1. Things happen that totally rock your boat and you just gotta roll with punches and overcome it.

2. Mistakes happen and the point is to *live & learn* from them.

3. I’m a SOOO much more stronger, brighter, and more efficient than I ever though I could be.

4. With *DETERMINATION* anything is possible.

I think such events happen in our lives to teach us a lesson and to remind us how capable we are.

So intead of reading all the lovely blogs I love to follow and post about my weekly adventures, I was stuck being a total book worm all week. :-/ But I’m not complaining, I’ve caught up with all of my assignments and I feel GREAT! πŸ™‚

As a reward for all of my hard work, hubby took me to see The Help on Thursday. I finished reading it on Monday and I was very anxious to watch the movie finally. I was beyond pleased with the book and equally satisifed with movie. Hubby liked it too πŸ˜‰ which always makes he happy.

Another thing that I discovered makes me happy….

PICKLES!!!! πŸ˜€

There is a funny story behind it, but I’ll share it with ya later…maybe on the next baby post or something. πŸ˜‰ Needless to say, I definitely had a pickle run this week to satisfy my pregnancy cravings!!

Another thing that makes me *HAPPY* is….TEXAS<3!!

<img class=”aligncenter size-medium wp-image-201″ title=”texas

We will hopefully be visiting the *family* soon! I cannot wait πŸ˜€ I miss my parents, my siblings and my sweet sweet furbabies so so much! Everyday I tell hubby, “We’re one day closer to seeing Miss Lexie!” πŸ˜€ or “I can’t wait to cuddle with Mr. Grouchy Pants!” πŸ˜› He’s a cutie but his name could have easily been “Oscar.” But I still LOVE him to pieces. We’re going to bring home the little furry monsters, (YAY!!) and have our gender party to announce baby’s gender. (double YAY!!!) I’m sooo excited and CANNOT WAIT!

This weekend we’ve got lots going on with friends, today is the BIG GAME for TEXAS…they play top-ranked OU in the Red River Rivalry! We are pumped and super excited! I have a feeling Texas is gonna be the underdog who pulls out with a W this week. πŸ™‚ I swear baby is already throwing the *HOOK EM* sign up in my belly…Can’t wait to get him or her cute little Texas gear. πŸ˜€

Tomorrow we’re meeting our other friends (My *BESTIE*) and their precious little girl at the state fair! πŸ˜€ We’ve made it a tradition, the last time we went SHE was preggers and it was so adorable seeing her indulge all on the state fair goodies and NOW I’m the preggers girl! Since we don’t live as close as we used to, I greatly enjoy these get togethers to the fullest because she is truly a wonderful friend.

Do you like to go to state fairs?? I love all the craft booths and goodies that they make and sell. My friend loves ALL the crazy fried stuff they have. I dunno about fried oreos, but I’ll take a corn dog just because it’s the freakin’ STATE FAIR!! πŸ˜‰ hehe

(source) {Fried snickers or Corn dog?…take your pick. :-P}

Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!! (Sorry if I bored you with my lack of posting explanation..lol)
