A week of FIRSTS…

Just when I think I’m getting into a regular routine and plan on blogging more…BAM! something else pops up…..thus is life though right!?

So this past week has been a surprisingly fun, joyous and absolutely CRAZY and a bit hectic…but hey! we’re surviving!! (insert *I’m a survivor* song here! lol)

1. A sweet someone (A’s Momo) surprised us on Thursday night, flying in from TX just in time for little man’s birthday! ๐Ÿ˜€ ย It was TOTALLY unexpected; we are usually the ones doing the surprises, but this time we were the ones completely dumbfounded when we saw her at the front door.

2. My little baby turned *1* on Friday and we had his sweet birthday party on Saturday! ๐Ÿ˜€ (More birthday pics to come!)

3. Following his birthday party, little man got sick and when I say sick, I mean really sick! ๐Ÿ˜ฆย He ran a fever (for the first time ever) causing us to make a trip to the ER. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

4. It actually *SNOWED* but enjoying it was the last thing on our minds. Aiden didn’t care much for the snow the last time we got a brief dusting, so I figured this weeks snow wouldn’t be very impressive to him either, plus we were NOT willing to risk him getting even more sick, so the winter wonderland was no big deal in our casa.

5. After many doses of children’s tylenol and motrin, my little love bug’s fever subsided, BUT then he got this random RASH all over his body. Again, I FREAKED OUT and we rushed to the ER once again. Thankfully, they said it was just a side effect of the fever and should go away in a couple of days. (which it slowly is, thank goodness!) {first time parent over reaction ย maybe!?….YOU BET!}

6. Mommy’s homework was been placed on the back burner since my little munchkin has been a nursing & snuggle bunny all week long, and you know what?….I’m not even phased by it. Baby comes first! School work will eventually get done.

7. I love love love breastfeeding; I’ve had my ups and downs with it, but I swear the ups have completely outweighed the downs and this week further enhances my adoration for it. I’ve nursed A more these last couple of days than I have in months. The only thing that would soothe him was me nursing him and with that, I’d nurse him at little ache and cry all day and all night. Although, I felt as though I was nursing a newborn, I loved that I could make him feel a bit better. โค

8. And lastly, on a sweet note, yesterday was the first time I’ve had blue bellย ice cream here in VA! ๐Ÿ˜€ The commissary nearby has started to carry BLUE BELL and a friend dropped some off to us last night!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Blue bell makes me happy!

BB ice cream

P.s. Blue bell makes EVERYTHING better!

Now that my little honey bunny is feeling better, this mommy has to get back on her school work. Happy FRIDAY!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! โค

Thankful Thursday {on Friday!}

I meant to post this yesterday as part of Jessie’s Thankful Thursday edition link up but….I sorta got caught up with homework and watching little mister practice his *WALKING*!! YESS!! He’s taking steps ALL ON HIS OWN, the other day he walked across the living room…WHAT!?!?!? I KNOW! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m excited yet SO SO SO very worried at the same time, life as we know it is going to be completely UPSIDE DOWN once my baby (almost toddler) begins walking….and then running. :-/

As part of Thankful Thursday, I was to acknowledge how thankful I am for my little sugar bunny.

MommyI cannot imagine my life without him and I adore every second of the day because of him. ย He is truly such a wonderful blessing; I often think to myself ย “how did I get so lucky!?” Parenting has obviously changed my life drastically, sometimes days are rough but in all honestly, the tough days mean nothing when I see his sweet smiling face or hear his adorable little laugh. It’s so hard to believe that my little love bug is not so little anymore and is becoming more of a big boy by the minute…I’m cherishing every little snuggly moment, all while being overly joyous and amazed by the new things he is accomplishing. โค There is nothing more honorable than being this little sweethearts mommy; for this I am forever grateful.

Baby & mommy

I love you to the moon and back.

p.s. If your a breasfeeding advocate like me, check out the sweet breastfeeding storyย of Mayim Bialik {the actress fromย Blossom…remember that show!?! :-)}

Aiden {10 months}

Aiden at 10 months…… โค

-Stands with assistance. He uses an object (a toy, my leg, his bouncy) to help him pull himself up.

-Walks by pushing his little sit-to-stand learning walker.

-Pushes everything he can, including hisย activity table, as well his little tikes drum.

-Loves GREEN smoothies

-Throws EVERYTHING and then waits for the applause afterwards. ๐Ÿ˜‰

-Has started to become a bit of a picky eater (like *ahem* someone else I know…*DADDY*!!). He prefers fruits over most veggies.. :-/ but we’re working on incorporating veggies as much as possible.

-Has become such a big boy by sleeping in his crib! Sleeps from bedtime til midnight, then wakes up for a feeding and comes to bed with us. (Okay okay, so maybe he could sleep the whole night in his bed, but we still enjoy the cuddles and snuggles with him in our room, so we’re partially there…we’ll get there soon enough!)

-Has become super independent, wanting to push his toy by himself without any assistance. We try to help him turn around because he gets stuck a lot and he’ll push our hand away from the toy as if to say “I got this!” ๐Ÿ˜› He also tries to push the toy one handed sometimes or prefers to look at his audience instead of where he is going…hence making him crash into the couch and needing assistance.

-Signs MORE occasionally when he really wants something, as well as the sign LECHE when he thristy.

-Stands up all the time but has yet to take any steps unless he’s by the couch, he’ll sometimes try to reach for it and walk towards it but usually just sticks to standing and holding his balance.

-Knows the words, tree, book, dad, puppy, and cat. I’ll say “where is the tree?” and he’ll look at it or I’ll ask him to get me a book and he’ll find one.

-Is a total tech savvy little guy ALREADY! He smiles and giggles everytime the phone rings; he assumes it’s a video call and becomes giddy with excitement. He also LOVES cell phones, remotes, computers, anything electronic basically.

-Snuggles to be *sweet.* He will lay his head on my nap or on my shoulder (and even the ground..anywhere really) just to hear us tell him “Ohhh!! How sweet! What a sweet baby!!” He LOVES the praise and will do it over and over again!

-Threw his first temper tantrum/fit when we made him share his favorite walking toy with a friend. He got mad that we were letting her have a turn and he threw himself back onto the ground and cried.

-He sweetly & unexpectedly woke Daddy up on Christmas morning. He usually just focuses on waking Mommy up, but that morning after waking me up he immediately whe nover to Dada to bug him until he got up. I thought it was absolutely adorable, such a little smartie!

-He loves when we read to him, he chooses his books every night and often times chooses the same one.

-Likes to throw share his food with Lexie (the pup) and even saves some scraps for the cat too, but Luke of course isn’t interested in human food, so Lexie and A are BEST BUDS now! ๐Ÿ˜‰

-Toddler-tude (toddler attitude) has indeed begun; he’s very demanding when he wants something lately. The other day he did NOT want to sit in his high chair after breakfast while mommy straightend up the kitchen. Instead of sitting contently like he usually does, he huffed and puffed and grunted with all his might to try to push the tray off so he could get down. ย ๐Ÿ˜ฆ My baby knows what HE wants apparently….and isn’t so much of a baby anymore..

-He’s also very intrigued by other people and is such a little flirt! He smiles at people ALL the time, especially cute little girls…Uh-oh…I’ve got a little ladies man on my hands for sure…lol

-I definitely see him changings a lot these days..he’s doing so much, both independently and with others. It’s soo sweet to see him discover and explore the world around him. โค

Aiden {9 Months}

My *9 month old* is seriously becoming more and more of a toddler and less of a baby with each passing day..

Baby (almost BIG BOY) Aiden…

-Loves to EAT food; he shoves 2-3 puffs in his mouth all at once.

-Learned to drink from a straw cup (which only took about 2-3 days).

-Eats about 3 times a day of solid food and continues to nurse on demand.

-Has TWO TEETH now, his first one he got the day before Halloween and the second a week later.

-Likes to pull his big sister’s tail at any chance he gets, thankfully she’s come to really like him a lot since he tends to share his food with her ALL THE TIME. ๐Ÿ˜›

-Had his first encounter with the grouchy cat one morning and lets just say that the score is Lucas 1 Aiden 0…for now..

-He says “Ki-Ki” for cat and sometimes says “key-key”

-LOVES carbs like his momma…haha..He ate some whole wheat banana pancakes one Sunday for breakfast and had rice that same day for lunch and was SUPER HYPER afterwards…lesson learned: Don’t double up on carbs

-He “gobbled til he wobbled” on Thanksgiving and ended up taking a good 2 hour nap afterwards.

-Likes fruit like is momma, especially blueberries, strawberries, bananas, pears, peaches and *mandarine oranges*.

-He also loves yogurt, he’s been eating YoBaby Yogurt, but also likes all other types of yogurt as well (including fro-yo, again like his mommy).

-Loves his CD and has finally gotten used to listening to Christmas music, particularly Michael Buble’s Christmas album which mommy LOVES!

-Started moving from a seated position to his knees on Nov. 20th, and also began scooting on his bottom around in circles to. Also started to become more active while on his tummy, which he hated to be on for such a long time.

-Began crawling by kicking his lower body and rolling, (you could tell it took a lot of strenuous work because he would constantly grunt and take breaks throughout his mini journeys) but after a while he figured out how to make it easier and began to really crawl in a special way by using one leg in the typical crawling position ย and keeping the other leg straight while crawling.

-GRUNTS to tell us stuff esepcially when implying “MORE”

-Can SIGN “leche” ๐Ÿ˜€ (leche= milk). I can ask him to sign “leche” and he’ll sign it to me and I can sign it to him and he smiles and gets all giddy.

-Knows the sign “all done” and understands it but has yet to use it.

-Blinks his eyes several times (otherwise known as “ojitos”) and enjoys getting a great applause from everyone.

-Still only says “Da-da” and “Ba-Ba”

-Likes his jumperoo but prefers to be on the floor able to move and crawl around.

-He enjoys his toys but prefers non-kid friendly toys such as, the remote, mom and dad’s cell, the computer cord, pretty much anything that he isn’t supposed to get his hands on. ๐Ÿ˜›

-He loves bath time and has finally gotten into a “bedtime schedule.”

-Loves the Christmas tree & looks at it everytime I say “tree”

-Has been all about the pretty gifts under the tree and has unwrapped a few of them with great joy! So we are very to excited to see his reaction on Christmas morning!

-He has also found the drawers on our TV stand and gleefully crawls to them the minute he/s put on the ground.

-He loves to throw stuff, especially his toy balls, golf balls dad practices with and his toy rings.

-He has also started to nap & sleep in his crib ๐Ÿ˜€ which was a big step for us! (I’ll post more about this later)*

-He wants to STAND & pull himself up to STANDING all the time, especially when in the bath tub! lol

-He shakes his head NO to EVERYTHING! I’ll ask “Aiden is that yummy?!” then he shakes his head Nooooo but then opens his mouth for me to feed him more. lol

He is seriously becoming so independent and more mobile by the minute…my friend told me that once little boys get moving, they don’t stop and it leaves mommy exhausted. While I love seeing him grow, I can’t help but think what happened to my little baby…he’s not a baby anymore he’s becoming a toddler. :-/

I haven’t gotten an accuract account of how much little Mr. weighs and how tall he is, because his 9 month check up isn’t until after the holidays. So I’ll have to update that later. All I know he’s getting a happy, healthy and loving baby and that’s all that matters to me!

Fun fact: Dad loves to sing “Hey diddle diddle, the cat in the MIDDLE…” instead of the “the cat and the fiddle” ๐Ÿ˜› Such a silly Daddy!

8 months

8 months….(almost *9* already too…) Ahhh! Where has the time gone??

My little 8 month old…

became very independent while visiting family at home he…

-went on his first trip without Mom, with his grandma and grandpa and did GREAT (even though Mom missed him like crazy,I was glad she could do some homework while he was out & about!)

-learned to sit up in the bath tub all by himself with a bit of assistance of course

-learned to say “bye-bye” with his hands which was SOOO CUTE! My dad told him “Let’s go bye-bye baby!” and A looked at him eagerly and waved “bye-bye”

-learned to DRIVE ๐Ÿ˜‰ thanks to his Popo for teaching him to it’s done

-ate tons of yummy foods, including, rice, beans, ice cream, pie……

-was spoiled rotten with lots of toys, goodies, and attention 24/7… how could anyone resist a sweet face like his? ๐Ÿ™‚

-got his first pair COWBOY BOOTS

-went to see a bunch of cute little baby goats

-watched his aunt Mia play volleyball every weekend

-also got to experience his first at home band concert by his aunt Mia on the clarinet and his uncle Danny on the trombone. Needless to say, A was super shocked when he heard them playing their tunes.

-starting to become an expert at using his little pinchers to pick up foods

-he mostly enjoyed all the loving and affection he got from EVERY ONE in the family! โค

When we got back home he…

-began turning over more often, mostly from back to tummy (which he hated to be on) in an attempt to reach for toys

-started turning 360 degrees when on his tummy

-started throwing things; anything and everything he can grab, toys, his paci, rings,bouncy balls

-started to move from a seated position to his hands and knees

-rocks back and forth while on hands and knees and looks as though he is going to crawl, but then decides at the last moment to sit right back down. (SOO cute to watch)

-after a while of rocking back and forth, and sitting back down, he finally got the courage to just dive forward only to land on his tummy!

-since visiting the family and seeing many other faces he has become more aware of others and even allows new people to hold him without getting upset the moment Mommy walks out of the room.

-he is completely aware of his little furbaby siblings and loves to see them run around the house, it totally cracks him up.

-enjoys going to the library and is always such a good boy

-became a little pumpkin, literally..(see photo below)

-was a MONKEY for Halloween and enjoyed seeing all the kiddos trick-or-treating

-has definitely LEARNED the “bye-bye” concept..one day I tried to put him in his crib for a nap and he cried the entire 10 mins…so being the mom that I am the fact that I cannot stand to hear him cry (yes I know many of you are shaking your heads at me…but hey this is my parenting style..), I proceeded to pick him up. As soon as I held him in his arms, he smiled, rubbed his face in my shoulder with glee, then turned to his crib and waved “bye-bye” then smothered his face in my shoulder once again and smiled the biggest smile in the world. โค

{At his first LH Football game!}{Rocking his personalized hat that his GG made him}

{He slept throughout the entire football game. ๐Ÿ™‚ Guess it was too boring for him?}

{Using those pinchers!}

{Getting lots of lovin’ from his big sister Lex}

{All about those hands!}

{Bundled up for the cold VA winter!}

{Halloween, our little GREAT PUMPKIN}

{His first Halloween, my wittle monkey boy!}

He seriously melts my heart all the time with the smallest things he does, he’s such a smart little cookie, I cannot kiss him and love him enough, it drives me bonkers! โค
